On April 3rd, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, come register, mingle, and enjoy the start of our NBBQA reunion, and fresh start conference. It's been more than 2 years. We all need to re-connect.  Then it's on to Billy Bobs for some fun, dancing, and maybe some bull riding. River Ranch is providing discount tickets.  Or, head back to our host hotel, Spring Hill Suites, and join a few on the rooftop bar for some more cocktails and relaxation.  We look forward to seeing everyone.

Randy Sutton | Main Ballroom

Randy Sutton is a 34 year Law Enforcement veteran and nationally known media commentator on Law Enforcement issues. Randy is the Founder of ‘THE WOUNDED BLUE” The National Assistance and Support Organization for Injured and Disabled Law Enforcement Officers.   He served ten years in the Princeton New Jersey Police Department and 24 years with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department retiring at the rank of Lieutenant. 

He is recognized as one of the most highly decorated officers in the LVMPD history, having awards for Valor, Community Service, Exemplary Service and multiple Lifesaving awards. He has trained thousands of Law Enforcement Officers in the United States on the subject of “POLICING WITH HONOR”   He is the author of “TRUE BLUE Police Stories by Those Who Have Lived Them”, ‘A COP’S LIFE”, “TRUE BLUE TO PROTECT AND SERVE”, and has been recognized by the President of the United States while receiving the “POINTS OF LIGHT“ Award and is also the author of the Amazon #1 Bestselling book,  “THE POWER OF LEGACY, Personal Heroes of America’s Most Inspiring People” He is the host of the popular Podcast and LiveTalk Radio show BLUE LIVES RADIO, THE VOICE OF AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT. Barbara, our NBBQA president, has dedicated her time over the past 4 years as  Secretary, President-Elect, and now President of NBBQA.   Her energy, love, and passion for BBQ, plus her 26 years with Sonny's BBQ has guided her in her leadership skills. But its the team and board members around her that have made her successful.

On Monday night at the 2022 NBBQA Conference, Barbara will keep the stage lively as we present this year's Awards of Excellence winners and Legends awards.

Sunny Moody | Main Ballroom

Sunny is the 2021 World Food Steak Champion and has received numerous awards, Grand Champion, and Reserve Grand, and multiple 1st places and top 5 finishes in multiple categories in BBQ and Grilling.  After a life-altering diagnosis of a brain and spinal malformation along with MS, Sunny went through a major lifestyle transformation losing 80 pounds which ignited a fire inside her to become a certified nutrition coach and personal trainer. She now develops recipes with her extensive background in nutrition and nothing gives her more satisfaction than teaching others how to create mouthwatering food through BBQ and Grilling.

Moodswing BBQ was founded by Sunny and Jeff Moody as a professional competition BBQ team. What started as a passion for backyard BBQ and live-fire cooking with family and friends has evolved into a full-fledged, high-profile professional competition BBQ team. Sunny, Jeff, and their four daughters (ages 5 to 14) travel across the country competing in Kansas City Barbecue Society (“KCBS”) and Steak Cookoff Association (“SCA”), Georgia Barbecue (GBA) events and are now branching into other areas of bbq competitions. Despite the accomplishments as a family and numerous awards won on the competition circuit, their true passion is sharing the joy of BBQ, grilling, and live-fire cooking with others. Through partnerships with some of the most respected brands in BBQ such as Kosmos Q, B&B Charcoal, and others, they are able to share their knowledge of BBQ and grilling through social media as well as live classes and demonstrations. It is their hope and mission to inspire BBQ and grilling enthusiasts everywhere, from backyard BBQ novices to seasoned pitmasters, to find the same passion in live-fire cooking that has brought so much joy and fulfillment to their own family.

Meet an amazing group of Texas teenagers as they compete against some of the finest adults in BBQ. This night will be filled with fun and bragging rights.  Teams will cook using the Texas High School BBQ Association rules cooking five categories:  Dessert, Bean, Brisket, Pork Ribs, and Whole Chicken.
